Laurent Vidal graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris, section Economique et Financière), holds a diploma in private law, and a doctorate in public law.

He is an Assistant Professor at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris I), where he co-directs the Department of Public Economic Law at the Sorbonne's Institut de recherche juridique — André Tunc, as well as the Master's program in Droit public des affaires. He is also an assistant researcher at the IRISSO-CNRS (Université Paris-Dauphine), an Attorney at the Paris Bar, and the General Secretary of the Association pour le Droit Public de l'Entreprise (ADPE). He is also provides legal expertise to certain international bodies.

He is the author of numerous articles, chronicles, and contributions in legal works. Notably, he published "French Public Procurement and Sustainable Development" in 2010, in Martyn TRYBUS and Robert CANTARA (eds.) Sustainable Procurement (DJOF Forlag Publishing).
