Michel Prada is a graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Bordeaux (Sciences Po Bordeaux) and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA).
From 1966 to 1970, he was an Inspecteur des Finances. Then, he was assigned to the Ministry of the Economy’s Public Accounting Directorate, where he was promoted to the position of Director in 1978. In 1985, he became Director of the Budget. From 1988 to 1995, he was the President of Crédit d’Equipement des Petites et Moyennes Entreprises (Credit Facilities for Small and Medium Businesses). From 1995 to 2003, he presided the Commission des opérations de bourses (COB). In 1998, he was nominated President of the International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) executive committee, and then served as the president of its technical committee from 2006 to 2008. From November 2003 to 2008, he served as President of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF).
Currently, he is the President of the Conseil de normalisation des comptes publiques, a member of the International Center for Financial Regulation (ICFR), of the Council on Global Financial Regulation, and the Financial Crisis Advisory Group. He is also the author of a number of works such as the Guide de l’actionnaire salarié, de l’épargne salariale et de l’épargne retraite, co-authored with Jean-Claude Mothie and published by Constellation Multimedia in 2006.
