Jean-Pierre Jouyet has been the President of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF — French financial markets authority) since December 2008. He was previously Secretary of State in charge of European Affairs (2007-2008), the Director of the Inspection Générale des Finances (2005-2007), the Ambassador for International Economic Affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2005), and the Director of the Treasury from 2000 to 2004. He was Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet from 1997 to 2000, and was also active in the private sector, serving as the President of Barclays Bank France in 2005 and a partner within Jeantêt Associés law firm from 1995 to 1997. He was the Deputy Director and then Director of the President of the European Commission’s Cabinet from 1991 to 1995.

Jean-Pierre Jouyet presides the Commission de suivi de la procedure d’affectation des élèves within the ENA, and the board of trustees of the Aspen Institute. He is co-author of N’enterrez pas la France with Philippe Mabille, published by Editions Robert Laffont in 2007, of Une Présidence de crises with Sophie Coignart, published by Editions Albin Michel in 2009, and Nous les avons tant aimés, published by Editions Robert Laffont in 2010.
