Christine Thin holds a degree in Law from Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris 2) and is a graduate of the Ecole nationale de la magistrature (ENM).

From 1973 to 1975, she served as a special judge for minors at the Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI) de Douai. From 1975 to 1987, she was a public prosecutor specialized in financial suits at the Tribunal de Grande Instance (TGI) of Paris. From 1990 to 1996, she was a public prosecutor in charge of financial crime and suits involving independent administrative authorities at the Paris Court of Appeals. From 1996 to 2000, she dealt with the same types of suits, but as Chief Justice of one of the Court of Appeal's chambers.

She was named Councillor to the Court of Cassation in 2000. She was a member of the board of the Commission des opérations de bourse (COB — former French Securities Regulator) from 2000 to 2003. From 2001 to 2004, she was a member of the Commission d'avancement. In 2003, she was nominated president of the Haut Conseil du Commissariat aux Comptes (H3C).

She is the author of many articles and prefaces, and has spoken at many academic events.
